Padraig Harrington was the man lifting the trophy at the ISPS Handa Senior Open on Sunday. The Irishman made an excellent run of Sunningdale Golf Club that included kicking off his final round with an eagle on the par-5 first hole.
Having quickly doubled his overnight lead of 2-strokes on his first hole, Harrington played steadily on the Sunday and ended the tournament three strokes clear of Thomas Bjørn.
He became the fifth player to have won both The Open and the Senior Open, the other players being Gary Player, Bob Charles, Tom Watson, and Darren Clarke.
“I’m thrilled to have won but very satisfied I’ve won a Senior Open with my two Opens. The fact that only five people have ever done it is quite special. I’m quite proud that I’ve managed to survive this long in the game.”
Padraig Harrington has had multiple feats of success in his career including 11 victories on the PGA Tour Champions circuit and 3 major trophies, the 2008 PGA Championship as well as the 2007 and 2008 Open Championships.
The Legends tour takes to Scotland this week for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship taking place at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen.
